With the 985th pick in the 2009 MLB First-Year Player Draft, the Pittsburgh Pirates select former New England Catching Camp student Pat Irvine from Westwood, MA.
This is a proud week for the New England Catching Camp, as another one of our former students has been selected in this year’s MLB First-Year Player Draft. Pat graduated from Elon University in North Carolina in May and appears more than ready to begin his professional career. Pat, a team captain, lead the Elon University Phoenix to three NCAA Regional tournaments during his college career and now brings his exceptional talent and leadership qualities to the Pittsburgh Pirates organization.
The NECC would like to wish Pat the best of luck in his professional career and we hope to see him in the Big Leagues soon. Congratulations Pat!
